Last weekend, there was the Cycling and Hiking Fair in Ghent. Besides about 150 outdoor companies, travel agencies, and tourist information services, there was also a program of lectures and slide show presentations covering all kinds of hiking and cycling trips.
I talked about my previous big trip - The Road to Istanbul. Speaking in public is way out of my comfort zone. Afterwards, I got some very nice comments from the audience, so I think I did well. I believe giving a presentation about a journey is more about conveying a vibe, a feeling, some thoughts and emotions, rather than a mere recital of detailed day-by-day facts. It's about taking the people through a story, even if they are not really thinking to do something alike. Inspiration can come in many forms.
Anyway, I've talked enough about Istanbul now! Winter was dark, I didnt make any cycling trips for two months. But spring is coming, I'll hit the road again soon - I will have Moscow on my mind!
